At CERAWeek 2025, IBAT CEO Iris Jancik said the company’s modular direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology is ready to roll at commercial scale and well-suited for the Smackover Formation, which she called “almost child’s play” due to its consistent brine quality.
IBAT’s patented DLE system has completed over 8,000 cycles and produced 25 tons of lithium carbonate during a successful commercial run at U.S. Magnesium. Jancik said the skid-based plant design enables fast, scalable deployment and helps de-risk projects for oil and gas partners.
IBAT is also exploring lithium recovery from produced water in the Permian Basin, potentially turning a cost center into a revenue stream. The company is in talks with major industry players as it expands its U.S. footprint.
