IBAT CEO Iris Jancik said the company’s direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology is field-proven, low-cost and ready to support U.S. lithium growth despite current market headwinds.
After a successful run at U.S. Magnesium, IBAT’s modular plant was placed in storage and is now being prepped as a demonstration unit for resource owners looking to validate lithium projects. Jancik said the system performed well in tough conditions, with operating costs under $1,000 per ton—making it profitable even at low lithium prices.
She said U.S.-made components and tariffs on Chinese materials strengthen IBAT’s position and called for clear regulations to advance commercial lithium production.
